McCalls 7630 – Striped Statement Sleeves

It’s no secret that I love a good statement sleeve and this top from McCalls 7630 sure brings the drama! I love how this pattern calls for contrast bias binding to finish off the sleeves and hem. To keep this style of top from overwhelming the whole outfit, I chose a simple striped fabric. In my opinion, any other busy pattern or color might’ve distracted from the shape of the sleeves.

Fun side note about this fabric: I was able to snag two different cuts of the same fabric from the remnant bin at Joann, which was an additional 75% OFF at the time! I only spent about $4 for two yards of this fabric, which was a total win. The lesson here? Always check the remnant bin for surprise goodies.

MODIFICATIONS: No modifications this time around, but if I make this top again I think I would finish the neckline with coordinating bias tape instead of the facing. All things considered this was a pretty simple sew.
